Street Fighter vs. Boxer – Who Is the Better Fighter?

Street fight

Boxing and street fighting—are both effective ways of fighting. However, there’s a clear, decisive winner when discussing who would win in a fight. Knowing the answer—will help you in better understanding both fighting approaches, and thus, you’ll have an easier time choosing between the two.

A boxer is more likely to win against a street fighter because it’s more organized and has more structure than the latter. As a result, boxers will find it more natural to use both offensive and defensive means to win the fight, whereas street fighting is an all-out fighting style.

Nonetheless, if you want to become a street fighter, you’re better off selecting one or two martial arts and learning them. But, learning a martial art, and sticking with it—will make you a better fighter.

I’ve watched countless videos where a street fighter and a boxer faced each other. It always seems as if the street fighting guy can’t defend himself. On the other hand, the boxing trainee’s footwork—is always on point. As such, he’s always capable of keeping himself harmless while generating more force through his punches.

Eventually, we can never predict the outcome of a fight between two fighters. However, we can do our best, especially if we have personal experience, to assume the winning and losing team.

Can a boxer beat a street fighter?

Street fighting has no rules. On the other hand, boxing is filled with rules—to make it a structured and safe sport. Of course, it still is one of the more dangerous sports in the entire world. And still, having some structure to it—is critical.

A boxer is more likely to beat a street fighter than the opposite—because boxing teaches effective and practical fighting techniques, both offensive and defensive. However, street fighting has no rules or structure. As a result, its fighters will be less competent than those who learned a straightforward structure and techniques.

And still, we can never know how skillful a street fighter will be. That’s the entire point; there’s no structure. For all we know, the next best fighter worldwide can come from street fighting, although it’s highly unlikely.

And, of course, there are street fighters who have no fighting skill whatsoever. Likewise, it’s not as unlikely as you may think. They don’t work on their technique as much as boxers do. Therefore, they’re incapable of generating as much force with their hits as boxing teaches its trainees to do.

Nonetheless, street fighting teaches aggressiveness and inability to give up. So, you may see fearless fighters marching forward without additional thought. That alone can scare even the elite of the boxers and give the advantage to the other party.

The advantages of boxing over street fighting

The primary advantage of boxing over street fighting is that it has structure. There’s no way of learning ineffective or wrong punching techniques, as it’s a straightforward art. On the other hand, street fighters don’t know how to generate a lot of force with their hits, as they have never learned how to.

I know it may sound odd, but bare with me. Street fighters learn from experience. Because of that, no fighter is the same as the other. Whereas in boxing, all trainees learn the same offensive and defensive fighting techniques. As a result, they’ll become great fighters, regardless of where they practice.

All it takes is a single punch—to end a fight. We can see that when we watch a fight breakdown and one of them throw a solid, fierce hook that hits the face of the other. You know what happens next? The other fighter can’t seem to hold on, and he’s knocked-out—just from a single punch.

If you want to know who would win in a fight, a wrestler, or a boxer, follow the link to an article of mine on the topic, where I reveal the answer.

Now, let’s move to the opposite site.

The advantages of street fighting over boxing

The advantage of street fighting over boxing is that it has no rules. As a result, the first fighter can learn how to grapple, punch, or even kick. As a result, the street fighter has more offensive opportunities and adaptiveness than the boxer.

Can you imagine a boxer on his back winning a fight? Because I certainly can’t. Boxers don’t train reacting to a scenario where they’re on their backs, as a boxing match can’t reach such places. For that reason, if they do end up in that position—their winning chances greatly diminish.

That’s the whole point of street fighting. You can try to penetrate the boxer’s defensive line with any move, while remaining respectful and morally righteous.

Again, if the street fighter knows how to grapple, he can use it to quickly finish off the fight by ensuring the boxer is on his back and unable to react.

Street fighting vs. boxing

Learning any martial art—is a wise choice. Knowing how to defend yourself—is truly one of the most important skills you can practice. It’ll increase your confidence and self-esteem while ensuring you’re capable of defending yourself, if anything turns south.

Street fighting and boxing are both suitable fighting approaches for self-defense. However, boxing has more structure, and as a result, is more effective than the latter. That said, street fighting is taught from experience, so its fighters may be more experienced in real fights.

Frankly, boxers are more competent than street fighters, as they have learned an organized way of fighting. Likewise, they know how to throw a solid punch better than the latter, as they have learned and practiced the small details of throwing hits.

Nonetheless, street fighters may be more capable of going all-out on someone and disabling him quickly. That’s the case because there are no rules in a real street fight. Consequently, they’re more than capable of causing massive damage quickly and effectively.

Final words

Street fighting and boxing are both suitable ways of fighting. However, if you’re interested in learning a better, proven way of learning to fight, it’ll be best to stick with the latter, as it’s a real martial art—with rich history.

Regardless, you’ll gain countless mental and physical benefits by learning any martial art. Some benefits you’ll experience are increased confidence, better self-esteem, and even reduced stress and aggression levels.
