A dull knife is remarkably more dangerous than a sharp knife. The pressure you apply with a broken blade increases as it gets more broken. As a result, the chances of the knife slipping from the object and cutting yourself are higher.

So, how often should you sharpen your knife? I have an entire post on the matter, and I encourage you to read it. In general, experts recommend sharpening any blade twice a year professionally and hone it after a few uses. That will allow you to constantly have sharp tools, which will make your work using the multi knife easier.

Imagine if you were to use a knife for self-defense. You’re about to disable the hostile, and when the blade is in contact, nothing significant happens. Why is that? Simply because the knife is not sharp enough. You have to sharpen it as soon as possible.

Now, another instance may be that you’re about to use the knife, and you successfully disable the attacker. Eventually, you protected everyone around you and, most importantly, yourself. For these reasons, I oblige you to keep your tools as sharp as ever.
