Martial arts

Today, many martial arts hold no value. Consequently, people who learn them are wasting their time. Because of that, if you want to learn a martial art, knowing which one to pick is crucial to see results.

Krav Maga, Boxing, Karate, MMA, and Jiu-Jitsu are effective. Because they prepare you for real threatening situations, they hold plenty of value. As a result, practicing them will grant plenty of benefits; for instance, confidence increases and knowing how to defend yourself.

The five distinct martial arts I mentioned are the best ones you should learn. However, knowing which one to choose may be troublesome. In the rest of this post, I’ll explain the different pros and cons.

Before you continue, I highly encourage you to read an article I wrote on whether you should begin learning a martial art. It’ll open your mindset and will assist you in making a final decision.

Krav Maga

This one has completely changed my life. Throughout my training, I’ve gone through plenty of Krav Maga classes. Not only did it give me the ability to defend myself, but it also increased my confidence. Consequently, doing it was the best decision of my life.

Krav Maga is a martial art that resembles street fights. Because in a real scenario, one must know how to defend himself, doing Krav Maga will highly benefit the student. As a result, practicing it will give you many distinct benefits, such as better physical condition and mental state.

I’ve been a special forces operator for several years. As a result, part of my job was to use martial arts to defend myself and others around me. As a result, knowing how to use Krav Maga for just that was crucial.

Therefore, I’ve gone through a year of fighting training. That allowed me to use it as part of my job. Additionally, it boosted my confidence and gave me the feeling I could defend myself anytime I needed to. It was the case.

From this graph, we can interpret that doing Krav Maga is a workout. Therefore, doing it will not only boost your mental state, but it’s also proper physical training. Hence doing it will end up bettering your physical metrics. Additionally, I’ll include a second graph so you can fully understand the capabilities a Krav Maga session has on you.

Lastly, it changed my mindset. Because of that, I had the feeling I could achieve anything I wanted. That’s the beauty of doing martial arts. For that, I highly encourage you to choose the fighting style you want to train. That way, you’ll be able to start working on yourself from today.

Boxing

Knowing how to use your upper body will ultimately hold high value. Not only will you be able to defend yourself, but you’ll also improve yourself rapidly. As a result, practicing such a fighting style will provide many benefits.

Boxing focuses on using your upper body to disable an enemy. Because you’ll be able to send powerful punches and various other moves, you’ll have an advantage in a real threatening scenario. As a result, learning how to box will significantly improve your quality of life.

Doing such a fighting style has many benefits. An immediate increase in self-confidence, for instance, is the main benefit of doing it. In addition, you’ll better your physical condition in no time and get in shape.

If you want to learn more about getting in shape while doing martial arts, I wrote an article just on that, and I highly encourage you to read it.

Boxing is one of the most prominent activites I’ve ever been a part of. Its intensity changed the way I workout. Because of that, I’ve been able to completely understand what’s hard in life, and what’s not. Therefore, not only am I way more calm, but I’m also more confident in my abilites to use my physical force.

A couple of my friends are black belts in Karate. Hence I know what to expect when you first start to practice it. Karate is the sole martial art I highly recommend researching before training. Beginning doing it will require high discipline and dedication. Hence if you lack one of these, it’ll be challenging to progress.

Karate is a martial art that involves using the entire body to attack and defend an aggressor. Unlike boxing, it requires the use of your whole body. As a result, some may have trouble learning it. Hence, it takes plenty of time and dedication to reach a decent level.

Again, before you start learning it, I highly encourage you to research more. I didn’t reach a deep level of detail. Consequently, you won’t be able to know if you want to start doing it unless you check it out. Visit YouTube and start following someone who does Karate frequently.

Lastly, if you’re interested in knowing whether Karate is good for self-defense, check out this article I wrote just about that.

MMA

Overall, MMA is one of the most fantastic martial arts you can learn. If you haven’t already, I highly encourage you to start watching MMA fighters. It’s truly amazing to watch their level of professionalism and dedication. It may get you motivated to train harder.

Mixed Martial Arts is the best fighting style that resembles real-life threatening scenarios. Because it involves raw fighting with various moves, the options are endless. Anyone can bring their style to the fights. For instance, one can use their Judo knowledge to pin someone down.

Because of that, doing it holds high value. A person who knows mixed martial arts and stumbles upon a street fight will overcome the hostile quickly. That way, one won’t be in danger.

Additionally, there are many benefits to doing MMA that may end up helping you in real life. First, you’ll have the mentality of a winner. Now, that’s one of the most crucial characteristics to have in life. You’ll be able to achieve whatever you want.

Lastly, you’ll notice an immediate increase in self-confidence in your ability to overcome fear. Doing MMA will force you to stumble upon fear and face it. As a result, you’ll be able to reflect on different parts of your life, which is highly desirable.

Jiu-Jitsu

Jiu-Jitsu is the single martial art I’ve never practiced. As a result, there isn’t much I can get into detail from my experiences. However, I know what it is and why it’s highly effective. In addition, if I were to choose a martial art to learn, it would’ve been Jiu-Jitsu.

Jiu-Jitsu involves using explosive movements with the entirety of your body to disable an attacker quickly. Because doing it will activate many muscle groups, you’ll get in shape rapidly while doing it. Hence it’s not only a fantastic martial art, but it’s also a great workout to better yourself.

In addition, it’ll provide you with the proper physical stress you need to better your condition. As a result, some practice Jiu-Jitsu for the physical benefits it grants.

Yet, I can’t stress enough how efficient it is with self-defense scenarios. Individuals who know how to use it at a high level will overcome plenty of threatening situations. Therefore, if understanding how to use it for self-defense scenarios and using physical force properly, Jiu-Jitsu is for you.

I highly encourage you to check YouTube for mentors who teach such a fighting style. It’ll allow you to understand why I’m excited. Overall, it’s a fantastic martial art that works.

Conclusion

While most martial arts work, some don’t. Thus knowing which one to learn is vital for not wasting your time. As a result, the five which I most recommend studying are MMA, Karate, Boxing, Krav Maga, and Jiu-Jitsu.

Before you pick one that you want to start learning, I highly encourage you to research further on the ones that you have an interest in doing.

For instance, before I began boxing, I followed a guy on YouTube and checked out his capabilities. That assisted me in understanding that I genuinely want to practice it. Therefore, my training was more focused on that. Eventually, I was more dedicated, motivated, and willing to work. As a result, I got to a much better level than I ever thought I would be.

Additionally, my favorite martial art is Krav Maga. Because the pieces of training in it resemble a street fight, you’ll be ready when you get into a dreadful scenario.

Before continuing, I wrote an in-depth article on Self-Defense and everything around it, such as international laws, weapons, and how to use them. I highly encourage you to check it out to learn more about its pros and cons.

Overall, doing martial arts will benefit you in two aspects. First, physically, you’ll get into shape. Secondly, your mental state will be solid. Because of that, training in martial arts is a fantastic way to improve yourself.
