3. Jeet Kune Do & Wrestling

This combination creates one of the deadliest styles. Because it unites two distinct techniques and skillsets one will be capable of enjoying both worlds. Not only will you know how to grapple, but you’ll also utilize some of the street fights movements Jeet Kune Do offers.

Jeet Kune Do

Hopefully, you’re familiar with Bruce Lee. If you’re not, he was one of the greatest martial artists of his time. Additionally, he was a famous movie star. Lee was the first to bring martial arts and uniqueness worldwide. Since then, it has become widespread and relevant.

Jeet Kune Do is a martial art that utilizes various deadly techniques for self-defense. Bruce Lee constructed it. He believed that self-development should guide this fighting style rather than progressing through belts. He was constantly trying to improve himself even though he was the creator.

He created various moves that are relevant in the UFC today. Many elite fighters use it to dominate their opponents. Because it’s a self-defense martial art, one can cause massive damage quickly when using Jeet Kune Do. As such, it’s highly effective for MMA.

Wrestling

Wrestling is one of the most-watched fighting styles in the world. In fact, I’ve written an article on the most popular martial arts worldwide, and it was number 3!

Wrestling is a martial art that utilizes grappling techniques to pin the opponent to the ground. Contrary to the common’s belief, it’s highly effective and relevant for self-defense. Thus many elite UFC fighters use it to dominate their opponents.

Knowing how to ensure your opponent is incapable of moving is a remarkable skill to have. In MMA, it’s highly desirable, and therefore fighters who use it are dominating their competition.

The Combination

While Wrestling doesn’t include any striking or kicking techniques, Jeet Kune Do does. As such, combining both styles will create an incredible fighting style.

Currently, many people use Jeet Kune Do techniques in their style. However, only a few combine it with Wrestling. Khabib, for example, is known for his Wrestling style. As you may know, he dominates his competition effortlessly. He can grapple, strike, and kick powerfully.

2. Muay Thai & Judo

Such a combination is one of the most lethal because of its complete nature. One who uses it will dominate his competition by using the movements he’ll learn. For example, Muay Thai will teach you to strike and kick appropriately. Additionally, Judo will train you to pin an opponent to the ground. Thus combining the two will be effective.

Muay Thai

Muay Thai or Thai Boxing is one of the most practical martial arts worldwide. It makes people solid fighters because of the variety of movements they will learn. As a result, you’ll be able to get hit without moving an inch while sending powerful elbows and knees to knock the opponent.

Muay Thai utilizes striking, kicking, and grappling movements to beat the opponent. Similar to Boxing, you’ll get hit plenty of times in training, and therefore you won’t be afraid of getting punched. It’s highly effective for both street fights and self-defense.

The best fighter I’m familiar with who uses Muay Thai is Rodtang. You’ll see him dominating his competition because of his aggressive style. He’s capable of getting punched in the face without moving. Thus this affects his opponents psychologically, and therefore he’s an elite fighter.

Judo

In one of my recent posts, I stated Judo is the best martial art for kids. Because it doesn’t incorporate any striking or kicking, it’s somewhat not dangerous. As a result, one has no risk of permanent damage or the cause of getting hit. Yet, there are always some dangers involved in most martial arts.

Judo is a martial art that utilizes pinning, throwing, or mastering your opponent. Because it’s practical for street fights, many people practice it for self-defense. In fact, it’s one of the best martial arts for self-defense

That said, Judo isn’t sufficient to become an elite fighter. It lacks in many aspects, including training in fundamental techniques. Consequently, a Judo man cannot become an elite fighter without incorporating another fighting style into his skillset.

The Combination

When merging two fighting styles, you want to create a comprehensive way of fighting. Because Judo lacks in striking and kicking, we’ll combine it with a martial art that covers it, hence Muay Thai. Additionally, one will know how to use elbows and knees to cause massive damage.

Combine Muay-Thai techniques with Judo’s relevant grappling movement, and you’ll get an effective fighting style. Consequently, elite fighters who have a Judo background dominate their competition. Now, picture an individual who’s capable of both pinning you down and throwing powerful punches simultaneously.

Overcoming these techniques will be demanding. You’ll have to practice specifically to beat one. Although learning Judo and Muay Thai may be challenging, it’s possible to achieve. Thus many elite fighters combine two fighting styles they find fitting.

1. Boxing & Jiu-Jitsu

Lastly, that’s the deadliest martial art one can achieve. If a fighter is proficient in both of these fighting styles and merges both, beating him will be challenging. That combination is Boxing and Jiu-Jitsu. While both are effective styles, they lack fundamental movements.

Boxing

The easiest-to-learn martial art that’s still effective is Boxing. I wrote an article on that, and I recommend you to follow the link to read more. Because it’s as straightforward as it is, it lacks essential self-defense techniques, such as grappling and choking.

Boxing is the most popular martial art worldwide. It utilizes various forms of punching to knock the opponent down. Additionally, Boxing trainees are solid fighters since they’re capable of getting hit and moving forward. As such, beating them will be demanding.

“The majority of studies reported positive effects resulting from hard martial arts practice, showing some improvement and maintenance of balance, cognitive function and psychological health.” (Source)

Training in martial arts will provide plenty of benefits, and so will Boxing. You can expect increased confidence, higher pain tolerance, and better situational awareness. To read the complete list of martial arts benefits, follow the link to an article of mine.

Jiu-Jitsu

Like Boxing, Jiu-Jitsu is practical but not complete. As a result, one can’t enjoy the maximum self-defense techniques by learning Jiu-Jitsu. That said, combined with a second, suitable fighting style it can be deadly. Because of that, this combination is number one.

Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art that utilizes maneuvering your opponent while on the ground. Additionally, it incorporates various grappling and submission techniques. As a result, learning it will be practical for self-defense and a sport.

That said, it doesn’t include any striking or kicking movements in its training. Consequently, one can’t become an elite fighter without these essential skills. Many people use Jiu-Jitsu as a platform rather than a leading martial art. Because of that, they’re capable of dominating their MMA competitors.

The Combination

Because the primary technique Jiu-Jitsu- lacks powerful punches. Additionally, you won’t learn what a punch to the face feels like from Jiu-Jitsu training.

On the other hand, Boxing lacks any ground maneuvering movements. You won’t know how to choke someone while being in the back. Instead, if a Boxing man is on his back, he cannot use any techniques he practiced.

We’ve got a match. Jiu-Jitsu and Boxing complete each other. Not only will you know how to get and send punches- but you’ll also be familiar with advanced grappling and submissions.

As a result, dominating your competition will become effortless. You may not beat someone who trains solely in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in that particular sport. However, you’ll win over most people who do a single fighting style in an MMA fight.

Police Officer Using Jiu-Jitsu

You’ll be able to see in the video how much the officer is capable of using Jiu-Jitsu. That said, he threw powerful punches when they were struggling on the ground. Thus the officer discouraged the hostile from reacting and was able to dominate the fight.

Conclusion

Overall, combining two martial arts will create a better style. As a result, dominating your competition becomes easier. UFC elite fighters are constantly mixing up techniques to surprise their opponents. For example, we see Jeet Kune Do movements frequently appear in professional fights.

Today, we discussed the best martial arts combinations for MMA. As a result, you can begin mixing up your fighting style. Such an action will make you a solid, capable fighter. To become an elite fighter, one must mix his fighting styles to become a complete one.
